Calcium lactate is a white crystalline salt and is represented by the formula C6H10CaO6. consisting of two lactate anions H3C(CHOH)COâ2 for each calcium cation Ca2+. It is also available in various hydrate forms, while pentahydrate being the most common.
Preparation: Calcium lactate can be prepared by reacting lactic acid with calcium carbonate or calcium hydroxide.
